H. H. Chown was one of the early professors at the newly formed Manitoba Medical College in 1885, and, in 1964, the building at 753 McDermot Avenue was named in his honour. This masonry restoration involved the removal and replacement of caulking, brick rebuild and repointing, and brick and air barrier restoration around the perimeter of the building.
